Hi there,

For those that own one of these, what rail are you using to mount optics?

I picked the rifle up for my son a little while back and he is ready for a scope. I'm having trouble finding a rail that works though.

Any suggestions are appreciated!

PS - it is an left handed rifle if that makes any difference.

Thanks in advance!!

Don't own one, but I see the Cabela's ad mentions Weaver #16 bases required - not a "rail" - separate front and rear bases for scope rings. Find ring maker's website - most have charts for what base is needed for particular rifles. Maybe you will find a one piece "rail".

Yeah I have the bases currently but because he is only 8, I need a bit more wiggle room then what they offer for getting it set up properly for hi..

Great idea checking the ring makers though, will get on that now.

Much appreciated!

Height of "Line of Sight" (LOS) though scope is usually dealt with via height of the rings - although some "rails" could be used? Low through Extra High rings by most makers - all use the same scope bases on the rifle.

Would be ... "odd" ... to be setting up a .22LR for an 8 year old to shoot at 200 yards?? With my kids and grand kids, a filled water bottle at 15 yards, or a clay pigeon at 25 yards was deemed "exciting"! Then we went after gophers!

Is it? My son started at the range with me at that age and is now 12 and competes with me ( beats me once in a while)
If you plan on him keeping this rifle for a while it saves buying another.

He's eight years old. It's half a life time until he's twelve. Plenty of time to save for an EGW rail during that time -- in case it's needed.
