savage mark II bv

Just got one and love it.

The only gripe I have so far is that it doesn't always eject empty cases - it always extracts, but ejection can be spotty. I tried tweaking the extractor up a bit and it seems to work better.

Also, it hates feeding Winchester Xpert bulk packs. It feeds Velocitors and American Eagle all day though.

x2 on the american eagles. Stingers are good too.

Mark II BV

.
The Savage Mark II BV is a good rifle. I started out with a FV but with the composite stock, the balance seemed wrong for me. I then bought a new BV and the wood laminated stock balanced better. Earlier this year, I bought a used BTVS, and both the BV and BTVS are about the same in accuracy. My primary use is shooting Prairie Dogs, so the criteria is "Minute of Prairie Dog." Up to 75 yards, there are not a lot of misses, and hits out to 125 yards or more can be regularly made.

We use mil-dot scopes for Prairie Poodle hunting, but I have mounted a Traditions 3.5-10 Silver Hunter scope designed for muzzle loaders on the BV. It has a duplex type crosshair, but below the cross hairs are three short lines. By shooting, I have found a 40 yard zero gives me aiming points at 75 and 125 yards when set at approximately 4.5 power. It really works for shooting Manitoba Gophers.

SIR (Cabelas) in Winnipeg list new BVs for $322 Canadian. I paid $350 for mine last year at a local gun shop, but I am 200 miles from Winnipeg.

it was my first rifle (and only one for now)....love it. eats anythings, it is reliable, and no upgrades needed.

I scored recently just 3 points below absolute record for our club in "4p" match. That means Annies TOZes and CZ's are trailing right behind. I will not trade it for nothing be it Annie or TOZ or CZ.

I just bought one a few weeks ago. I was originally going to get the BTVS but it didnt feel right for me. I havent tried it out just yet..

Had my MKII FV out today for some ammo experimentation. From the world's crappiest rest, I put 8/10 into a 1" bull at 50 yards without trying that hard. Mine also hates XPERT and has trouble feeding yellow jackets as well, although the yellow jackets grouped surprisingly well. Both dyanapoints and Federal bulk feed flawlessly and group very well at 50. Another interesting tidbit, I zeroed the scope for xperts, the dynapoints shot 1" low, the yellow jackets 1" high, and the Federals were bang on @ 50.
