Hey I just sent in my PAL application last week and I'm sure I want my first gun to be a .22. I plan to only use it at the range. I just want to know what you guys think of the Savage Mark II-F. The price at my local gun shop is $190.

I had one....shoots VERY good....with X-pert Winchester - .25" at 50m ( 0.5 MOA)....but the problem was - extraction...did not remove the shell...
I returned it to the shop :( but in general, very accurate rifle for this money :)))))
good luck :)

excellent first choice...will out shoot many shooters I got mine without the accutrigger and replaced it with a rifle basix, just think about it and she goes off...8-10oz trigger

I'v also been looking at the 10/22 but I think the Mark II will be cheaper on the ammo because it's not semi auto.

I have the Savage Mark II-G, same thing but with the wooden stock. Amazing little gun and lots of fun to shoot :) My only complaint was with the plastic trigger guard. Mine broke after only a few months. Mind you, I was living in Nunavut at the time and the gun got a lot of abuse so I wasn't too surprised.

I just bought a MKII a few weeks ago. Non-accutrigger model. Accuracy is great, the price was right (~190) and it seems durable and solid. If you buy one though, be sure to get the accutrigger. Twas my only regret.

Without a doubt that pic is the Mark II FV, not the standard "F" version. w/accutrigger.

The FV version is the one to get. I just bought one last month, and I love it.

EVERYONE...should have a 10/22
Gaaaaaaahhhhhhh. NOT hardly!!!! ;) Anyone who wants one can fly right at it. I personally have no use for the 10/22. Owned a couple and found them quite blah. The Savage is a great treatment for "Ruger Wants":D :) ;) Regards, Eagleye

If you look at the Savage website's pics of the F and the FV, they look identical. I think they may have posted the same pic for both .22's. The F is supposed to have a lighter barrel but I can't see the difference on the site.
I wanted the FV but ended up with a 10/22 and love it. I would still like an FV however. Maybe soon:) As for worrying about the price of .22 ammo...I wouldn't! At under $20 for 500 rounds, it's not that bad! Also, a lot of ranges don't allow more than 5 rounds in your mag anyway.

i have the non-accutrigger model of the mark II-f and my only complaint is the magizine slop
you will find the the mags fit very loosly in the mag well which has lent to alot of loading and jamming issues and they dont always extract very well

Thats the whole reason for buying a .22.....not to worry about the ammo cost. EVERYONE...should have a 10/22

Well, I mean, even my little box of 50 .22wmr cost me ten bucks... If I shoot off 500 rounds in a day, I've already spent a hundred on ammo...
