Hi guys and gals. So I recently traded a henry ar7 for a savage mark II fvsr with the 16 inch bull barrel. I put just a cheapy simmons 22 mag scope on it with the adjustments for yardage ect. After quickly bore sighting it by pulling the bolt and adjusting the scope at about 35 yards I then took a shot and couldn't believe how close it was, about half inch out! So 2 clicks and a couple more shots it was putting holes through holes at 35 yards. I then backed up to 50 yards and adjusted the scope and still same thing. Holes through holes and a half inch grouping at 75 yards. I could not believe what I was seeing. The rifle was brand new never fired. No mods nothing done to it. So basically it is the most accurate 22 I have ever shot. Tree rats had better look out!!! Lol also this was not using a bench rest. I was resting my elbow on my knee from a sitting position so that just shows how bang on it really is. So for about 400 bucks depending where you look you can get a extremely accurate 22 for plinking or hunting. I can't wait to shoot it again!

Yep the upper end savages are great. Sure they arent a CZ but imo its like a porsche vs audi.
Both get the job done. One costs more and does it with flare.

Loved my M2 fvsr, was more accurate than I am. looks good in my opinion too.

I now have a 93r17 in fvsr configuration. Swapped out the cheap plastic stock for a nice wood one from savage. Again more accurate than I am, and knocks them gophers hard! I really like the fact that the HMR fvsr lost the flutes in the barrel. My M2's fluting was soooooo rough!

Topped with a BSA sweet .17 3-12x40 currently.
Looking for something with finer crosshairs and the compensated turrets are really useless with such a flat shooting round. IMO.

I love my 2 mark ii's. The BV wears a Vortex crossfire ii 4-16 v plex the TR wears a 6-24x50 BDC for the finer reticle. Both love SK standard Plus and CCI mini mag.The TR is less picky with ammo.Still fine tuning the TR as I had bad rings which had me out of elevation adj.All is well now was again shooting ritz crackers and small targets at 116yds on my range finder last weekend. The TR was 10 for 10 with the mini mags on ritz's at 90 yds.I don't use the hold overs just crank up the turret for elevation.Too much fun for a cheap gun.I have $700 all in for the BV and $960 for the TR scopes and rings.I have stopped buying cheap bulk ammo and look for better ammo now.The TR also shoots the Aguila subs and SV very well.I haven't shot too many groups yet with the TR as its just way too HOT out here in BC right now too have any fun.
Enjoy your new FV-SR,I love my Savages ,way underated and a lot of bang for the buck.0 isues as well never a FTF or FTE goes bang every time. One day I may upgrade to an Anny when I have more cash.
Heres a few Pics.

I was just using bulk federal ammo cheap stuff. And 22lr. Gunna try some 100 yard plus shots with it this weekend. And for the trade I made with only paying $80 for the ar7 I feel like I stole it. I'm extremely happy with it. it's a hell of a lot more accurate then the 10/22 I had and I fined I don't go through as much ammo cause its not a semi. All my big calibers are bolt so this savage fits right in. So far as I've said I'm more then happy with it and I hope to make it last a very long time. Ps... the barrel is threaded for a flash hider. Any ideas where I can find one? I know it's just a 22 but I think it would just add to the looks.

Your sure it wasn't a bad optic or improper mounting? That seems excessive for a bad barrel.

No, it was definitely the barrel. I checked all of that out before sending it away. Took forever to get it back in my hands. What little shooting I've done with it since leads me to believe it has the potential to be a decent shooter once I get around to replacing the stock. Otherwise, it's decidedly average at this point.

I own another Mk2 Savage, a BV model. It shoots quite well with Fed 710's, Lapua Std. Club, and a few other choices ammo. At 50 yds. it's no problem to keep 10-shot groups into a toonie.
