Just bought this rifle and am wondering if it is possible to fire the 22shorts. And if there is any cool mods that could be done to it.

With the variety of .22lr ammo out there, I always amazed that 22 shorts ever get mentioned. Unless it's an issue of availability these days...which might be the case. :) If you manage to get the round into the chamber, it should shoot just fine...but as to whether or not the mag will feed them, you'd have to try to find out. Generally speaking, long and long rifle tend to feed well from Savage and CZ mags in my experience, but I never bother with shorts.

Oh...and to the "mods" question.. The FV-SR is already a modified version of a standard Mark 2, but I added a Savage Tri Rail and a Vortex SPARC to mine. Here is my daughter posing with it, after it spent a couple of hours in that barn doing a pest control job with some CCI Quiet 22. :)

Yes you can shoot them, but I doubt they'll feed from the mag. You could try something like cci quiets, which are even more quiet/less powerful than shorts but have an lr case so will feed properly from the mag.

I got the FVT and got a boyds thumbhole laminate in forest camo and done the Trigger up in an Apachee Trigger kit.Shoots just as good as a high end target gun..

Yes, you can shoot shorts... but you will probably find better feeding results with CCI Quiet LR's... There are as many mods as you car to do... here are a few of my FV's;

Love that Apple jack thumb hole stock. I may have to upgrade. Love my FV. Shoots shorts perfectly. I shoot more cb longs and cci quiets but the shorts hit perfect for crows and starlings from my office Window to the field edge. Lr if they're out further. Just seems to shoot everything straight so I swap out ammo instead of holding over.

Ok now I just bought a scope for it an it doesn't fit... Do I need to buy a rail as well? The stock mounts don't for the scope I bought.

You need Weaver-type rings. They're more common than 3/8"/rimfire-type rings, but you may have them and no..they won't work. Good news is, they're the easiest to get your hands on.

Boyds thumbhole, Apachee trigger kit set @ 1lb., DI products rail( from Kinney's shooting supply in NC), Tasco 6-24x42 AO scope = One sweets shooter!!
