Im going to be purchasing a Savage Mark II and I would just like to know if the BTVS is the only model Savage currently makes that is stainless steel with a heavy barrel? It's not a huge deal but I would really like it in stainless steel and if the BTVS is the only way to do so than i guess I know which one im buying. Im going to be buying a custom stock from sharp shooter supply so it seems almost pointless to spend more money on the BTVS just because it has a thumbhole stock(which I am not to fond of). Any feedback would be awesome, thanks in advance guys.

Yeah but I don't want a .17 HMR so I guess ill just have to get the BTVS. I don't plan on buying the custom stock right away so I guess it's not that big of a deal. Plus i could always sell the stock too. It's only going to be used for target shooting so a .22lr is cheaper

Oh crap, i didnt notice you were talking about the MKII :). I'm sure it wont be too hard to unload the take-off stock for the MKII, I for one would be interested in it to replace the crappy stock on my MKII FV.

Well im quite the newbie when it comes to firearms. I don't think it would be hard to take the action and barrel out of the BTVS stock though would it haha?
