Tested CCI Selects in my 452 CZ's and they came close to an inch at 100 yards.
MiniMags are good but one day the HP beats the solids, and next time out they trade places.
When firing groups and switching ammo brands there may be some inconsistency until the characteristics of one brand coats the barrel sufficiently.
The higher grades of ELEY use the same lubricant and TEAM can be used to coat the bore after cleaning and then go to the more expensive Match bullets.
Switching from lubed bullets to copper wash will take a while to adjust and when returning to lubed bullets.
FIOCCHI Standard Velocity gave better results when cold but the lube is like heavy grease. When hot they are oily.

Savage Mark II TR - Ammo Testing Update

I mounted the Nightforce on the rifle.

Then I tried out some more ammo: Federal Gold Medal and Auto Match, SK Rifle Match, Lapua Center-X, RWS Target Rifle, and Eley Target.

Horseman2, yes I had been told to prep the barrel by shooting the same brand or same ammo if possible, so I did this for about 10 rounds before I shot the groups with different ammo. At the end of this testing I have put over 400 rounds through the rifle and the bore looks like a sewer pipe. I may have to retest a bit after cleaning.

Conditions began with a light wind, then light rain with variable wind becoming gusty, then gusty with short periods of heavy rain, temperature was around 20 degrees C although it felt colder, so maybe not the best day for comparison testing. Here are the results at 50 yards, centre circle is 1" diameter. Eley Practice and Standard were from a previous session, post #1 in this thread.

I shot 2 groups of the Eley Target because I had a flier on the first one. I only got 4 rounds of the Lapua Center-X off because it kept failing to extract. Then, just for fun, I moved out to 100 yards. Next stop, 200 yards!

These targets have a 1 cm grid on them. Interesting as the CCI SV kept up with the more expensive stuff at that range even though it did not perform as well at 50 yards. That low flier was my first sighter and then I moved the elevation up 0.1 mil and held 2mil over (thanks to my shooting buddy and his ballistic calculator). Hardly conclusive, so further study is required. :)

Thanks, looking for Selects but so far no luck.

This is interesting indeed! As soon as I can get my hands on Eley/Lapua locally I would love to do this kind of comparison and really push it out to a great distance myself.

Can someone please tell me what company sells/ships the trigger guard and thicker mag base plate to Canada.
DIP doesn't ship internationally. Atleast that's what it says on there website.
Please and thank you!

No one... Im making my own bottom plate... The trigger guard will have to live with...

I will stop by the machine shop tomorrow... and see what's the pricing per unit...

JB can you tell me the exact thickness of yours ? so I get get it copied...

thanks

So far, I don't know of anyone importing DIP to Canada. Has anyone emailed them and asked? I haven't even and installed and tested yet, so who knows is it's even any good.

Hey D, I'll mike it for you tomorrow.

Just so it's clear, I am still running the stock trigger and bottom metal. Rifle is stock except for the rail, scope, and bipod.
