Been looking at getting a bolt action rifle and i am liking the the savage mark II just wondering if all the modles of the mark II are the same or are there any diffrance with them.

Main differences are stocks, sporter vs heavy barrels, open sights vs scope, and stainless vs blued.

Go for a heavy barrel.

I like this one I got from a CGNer.
Has synthetic stock, blued barrel, heavy barrel , swivel studs for sling, accu-trigger. scope mounts.

So far its very accurate at 50 yards and I am impressed.

Down side is that there are NO OPEN SIGHTS. Only scope shooting.

Mark 2 F comes with open sights if you want them.

I have owned a Mark 2 F and a mark 2 BTSV. They both have triggers but the one on the BTSV has a much ligher adjustment range.

They don't like to feed hollow points...

I've got a Mark ii G, if you plan on getting a savage make sure they have the weaver mounts in stock at your location before you get a model that doesn't come with the mounts on it.

Unless you want iron sights, the MKII FV-SR is the best bang for your buck. Plan on dropping it into an aftermarket stock at some point... I am not a fan of the Savage synthetic stocks on their rimfire rifles. Here is a couple of my MKII's below;

I went out to Silverdale with a fellow CGNer and plucked away at his MkII. I was really impressed. Inexpensive gun with a very nice trigger, some good glass and we were putting together some very nice tight groups.

Hey Hoyt, What glass and rings are on those two magnificent creations!?

The purple FV-SR has a Hawke Varmint SF 3-12X44mm and the red FV (HM2) has a BSA Contender SF 6-24X40mm (but has since been changed to a Hawke Varmmint SF 6-24X44mm).

What muzzle break is on the bottom one hoytcanon?

The muzzle brakes are the same on both guns... made by Ross Schuler of Mountain Home, Idaho... web page below;
