Savage Mark II

I'm looking into a savage mark II and have it narrowed down of the FV or FV-SR model. Does anyone know why the FV model has a higher price than the FV-SR? The FV-SR seems to have more to it, threaded barrel, top rail, tactical bolt.

Also does anyone happen to know anywhere that has the FV-SR in stock? Elwood seems to offer the best price but its a 10-12 week wait.

Anytime I've seen them both in stock, the FV-SR costs a bit more than the FV. Oh, I just clicked on your link, and I think you're confused because you are comparing the 17m2 FV to the 22LR FVSR. The 22LR FV is cheaper.

The FVSR does offer a fair bit more value for just a little bit more cash. IIRC, the finish on the FV looks better than that on the FVSR, though.

Assuming you've checked all the site sponsors' websites, it would appear that at least one of the common Canadian big-box stores has the FV-SR somewhere in their system.

I find the "F" stock doesn't allow for a good cheek weld with a scope. It's awkward.

I agree, it's really hard to get a good cheek rest with my 93r17 F... The tac pro cheekrest is an easy way to fix that though.

The price differance is in the lenght of barrel the fvsr is a short barrel that is about all the differnce

Agreed... I have both models and the finish on the FV-SR is the worst I have handled from Savage... and I have checked more than a dozen FV-SR's... the FV has a much better barrel finish;

I've looked through the sponsors and didn't come up with anything. What big box store should I check? I just got my PAL this week, so maybe I'm not thinking of them all?

The Cabelas flyer has the FXP on sale for $250.
It has a scope, and a 21" sporter barrel rather than the varmint heavy.
The lighter barrel might help the weight distribution.

The FV-SR is a sweet shooter. The 16 inch heavy barrel is sharp. The oversized bolt knob is a nice touch as well.

It is stocked by the larger retailers. $250 - $300.

I purchased one a few weeks ago and its staying in the collection.

Thanks guys. I just got my pal this week, I was unaware that wholesale sports even existed. I think I've decided to buy a .17 hmr from Elwood Epps, and order 2 .22's from them as we'll. the .17 hmr they have in stock, and I can wait the 10-12 weeks for .22's.
