Does anyone know of an extractor hook/spring upgrade (aftermarket?)for savage Mark ll 22LR and B22G. Savage is very friendly towards replacing the parts, unfortunately it would be nice to replace the parts with ones that will work properly for a long time that have the spring strength to pull a case out of a chamber that is not clean.
I contacted a phone number listed as savage arms canada which took me to a US call center, explained that my savage Mark ll 22LR (two of them purchased aprox 1.5 years ago both same issue) and my B22G 22LR (purchases 1 year ago) are failing to extract fired and live rounds. The service operator very friendly took my info and serial numbers required and told me the replacement parts would be sent out as warranty replacement. Very good service.

The simple solution is when you get the 'replacements', just put the new spring on top of the old. Double-spring is the most 'accepted' fix for the poor extraction, assuming the 'hooks' are in good shape. Check out RFC section for Savage/Stevens OR Savageshooters .com

Was it just the 1 800 number you called?

I have 4 models of these rifles (one is a 502 pistol in 22 magnum), the magnums have always extracted fine but don't get the same use. The 22s are as bad as the ammo you feed it, waxy CCI is bad, oily ELEY is fine. My FVSR must have 3-4K rounds and I noticed a chip out of the extractor claw tip today, shooting CCI Standard has become frustrating after a box.

I'd pay to get several for doubling up and spares.

The number I called was 1-705-652-8000. It was listed along with the 800 number. Its says it a canada contact but the representative was in the US. As buck1950 mentioned if you can get the Savage Lakefield number that is one of there warranty locations.
