I was waiting to get haircut at barber's shop and noticed some kind of outdoorsey magazine "rifle and shotgun" edition. In one article they claimed Savage MkII stainless-laminated is the best rifle they ever tested for accuracy. They mentioned some weird numbers, like 1/8" groups at 50 yards.

That's pretty impressive. They must have gotten a really good one to perform their tests on. Its not easy to get a 22 to shoot 1/8" groups. That's Anschutz territory. If Savage could guarantee me that, I'd rush out and buy one.

Some of them are nail bangers, I just find there two light to make shoot that well, I don't doubt the odd one can. But hey, If I worked at Savage and you said "hey buddy, we need a 22 for a magazine test". I would make damn sure it would be a good one that got into your hands.

Mine shoots well enough to pick 12 ga hulls off the backstop at 100 yards more often than not. It shoots particularly well with Stingers, which is great given how well stingers work on gophers, and that Stingers generally aren't that accurate in most rifles.

Savage

A lot of the fellas here are buying the stainless version with the laminated stock and accutrigger and they are all shooting awesome and of course to get those groups you need a good batch of ammo. My observations anyway if i only wanted to spend limited money, it or the cz would be my choice and probably the savage would win out all have been shooters that ive seen.

lapua and accu-trigger (and dark magiks) = 5rds 1/2" @ 50, but I'll stick to my 10/22 Charger :D
CZ's are kindy pricy, I mean in comparison to a savage or ruger

I can't get less than 1/2" at 50 yards with my CZ452 american using high velocity ammo, but that's plenty good for gophers. I have a heavy barrel Lakefield that is sort of a predecessor to that Savage and it will shoot a consistent 0.36" at 50 yards with the same HV hp ammo. Heavy barrel seems to make a difference.

My Mark II FV is shooting .532 to .602 at 50 using Winchester Power Points (40 gr HP)

The bulk Dynapoints range from .625 to 1.573".

Stingers ....... :puke: .... 2 + " I couldn't find the 5th round of the group. Stingers don't shoot good in my 10/22 either.

Velocitators, .933" and I think I can do better, there was a flyer that I think was me.

Remington Subsonic , 1.586"

Remington T22 , .864"

CCI CB Longs, 1.573" ...... but you need to aim 6" high

I have some CCI Standard Velocity and Lapua Super Club to try this weekend, I'll report back after I shoot it.

I went to the range this afternoon and tried a few different ammos (CCI STINGER, CCI QUIK-SHOK, CCI MINI-MAG, American Eagle 40gr Solid, American Eagle 38gr Hollow Point).
I was pleasantly surprised with CCI MINI-MAG and AE 40gr. I shot 11/16" groups with the MINI-MAG and 5/16" with the AE 40gr (all 5 shot groups @ 50m, measured with the flyer).
The QUIK-SHOK was a major disappointment. Just barely OK with the FV (1 3/16") but terrible with my semi-auto.
