Hi,

Picked up a Savage Mk.2 FV a few months ago for cheap and I outfitted it with some rings and a scope I had laying around. Wasn't planning on putting much money into it, but after shooting it a few times, I really like this rifle. I am not a huge fan of the stock though. I was wondering if a take off stock from any other of the Mk.2 heavy barreled rifles would work with my barrel and action with no modification?

Thanks

Yep, what Johnny_Zanni said. The barrel profile won't be a problem. They''re all free-floated anyway, so if you use a tapered barrel in a stock for a heavy barrel, you'll just have a tiny bit larger free-float gap (it's not noticeable, though). I have a tapered-barrel Mk. II FV in a Boyd's Tacticool stock - fits perfectly.

Yes it will work... Or you could go the Boyd's route... If you go to Rimfire Central in the Savage forum... I started a sticky on aftermarket parts... There is info and links to a few stock makers for Savage rimfires.

In keeping with the theme of this thread if one wanted to mate the stock from an FV to the action of a BVT would one need different screws other than the ones from the BVT?

Yes... the F series stocks have built in trigger guards and the screws are too short... you would need the "B" series inlet trigger guard, inlet mag plate and long action screws... you can get these from Savage directly, Boyd's or find a way to get the MUCH better DIP products... when you are done it will look like this;

another option would be to mod the stock you have i shoot a Steven's 22 bolt similar but not the same to the mark II however i am familiar with it and what i did was fill the for-end with shot and glass bed mine if you didn't like the for-end you could easily get mesh and widen or change the angle with fiberglass to make it fit you also possible to add a bulge in the rear for your cheek custom it to your liking same stock 30$ worth of fiberglass kit and you have a one of a kind if you are not shooting it off a bench opt out of the shot mine weighs like 13lbs with the glass now plus a bipod

Here's what a MkII FV looks like in a Boyd's Tacticool (can also be ordered from Savage direct, as a "replacement stock" for one of the so-equipped standard Savage .22lr models) -

This stock is channeled for all barrels, including bull- and tapered-barrels. Here's what it looks like with my tapered barrel...no problems at all

Hey guys i was also wondering if a stock from a 93 series stock (either .17 hmr or .22 mag) would work on a mark II?

As long as thy both are E receiver (1-5/8 ejection ports) it should work, am I wrong?

(Both rifles are heavy barrelled)

"E" receiver stocks fit both 93's and MKII's... just the bottom metal changes.
