I purchased a Savage Mk II with a 5 round magazine. It worked flawlessly with no failure to feed. I bought two Savage 10 round magazines new in the package and both have problems feeding the last round. It doesn't matter if I load 5 or 10 rounds in the magazine. Has anyone else had this problem?

I bought mine at the local gun store, we only have one. They are Savage magazines. I will compare them to my 5 round magazine and see if I can see any difference in the lips.

i bought my savage 10 round mags at a lethbridge gun store. no trouble with that one my 5 round that came with the gun seemd to not push the bullet up high enough. will be buying more 10 rounds in the future.

That's interesting information. I have only been using CCI Velocitor ammunition. I will try something else and see if there is a difference. I compared my 5 round magazine to my 10 round magazine and the only different I can see is that the follower in the 5 round magazine comes up slightly higher when the magazine is empty than the 10 round magazines.

I have the same problem with my 10 round mag. I find that if I top up to 10 rounds it does not feed properly, shaves off part of the projectile while going into the chamber, get's stuck and I end up ejecting it.

I've had the same issue with my Mako, with both 5 and 10 round magazines. The last round, sometimes the last two, don't always go high enough. If I hold the magazines up from the bottom seems to help. Doesn't happen all of the time. Remington Target seems to cycle better but you can tell the rounds are more lubricated.
