Savage Mk II failure to extract

Zero issues with federal black pack 36 grain CPHP, shot 150 today and not one FTE. Tried more M22, 5 of them jammed in the only magazine I tried.

I have some older ammo from the 60 its eley club and the brass feels a little sticky. I cleaned the rounds and the rifle functioned well after that

I polished the extractor on an extra fine diamond sharpener. Lay it on it and swirl it around. Do the top, bottom and all the edges. I never had a problem since. Quick easy fix. When you polish it, you can see how the extractor is bent around the edges from the stamping process.

*sigh* so many people suggesting to put a band-aid over a laceration that requires stitches. The root cause is that Savage is cutting the extractor slots on the ragged edge of functionality (not close enough to the chamber mouth). For a true fix, you need to tune the extractor slot by removing some material to allow the claw to get in closer and grip the case rim.

See this thread on RFC, page 3 and onward gets into the meat of the issue. https://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1153465
