Savage MK-II FV: before and after

That group was shot with Fiocchi Standard Velocity. Now, don't get me wrong. I do not usually shoot groups that small. That was just a really good day with multiple sub-MOA groups. The Fiocchi ammo has shot well in every rifle I have owned. I am sad though that I didn't buy more of it when I had the chance. I am down to my last couple hundred rounds of it and I haven't seen it for sale anywhere since. Our local Canadian Tire started carrying Eley (how do you pronounce it?) so I bought some Force, Club, Sport and Match to try out this year.

I just made an inquiry to Dale at Apachee Trigger. The kit is $74.50 USD shipped to Canada. Definitely a little pricey as I only paid $225 for the rifle but given how well this one shoots I am considering it. I'm waiting for my trigger pull gauge to arrive so I can figure out how heavy my factory trigger is and will go from there.

The joys of importing from the US !
The Sav Rat is more expensive again:

At first glance, you can't see much for your money in either option.
I have a couple of Apachee kits and one RB - All are in target rifles and I have no regrets about the cost vs the outcome.
In a hunting rifle, the accu-trigger is fine - The factory trigger can be improved considerably with a little careful polishing.
Your exchange rate is slightly better than ours at the moment but I just paid A$850.00 for a Benchmark which sells in the US for $350.00 so I hope the performance justifies the price.

Just purchased the Apachee kit this weekend, from what the reviews say, it's a great mod for the money. Will update once installed as I'll have 1 done up MKII and one completely original to compare it to.

Just got my Wheeler trigger pull gauge in. 10 pull average of the stock trigger is 1 LB 13.7 Oz. A little heavier than I would prefer but it does break very clean. I think I will leave it alone for now until I've had a chance to send some more rounds down range.

The Apachee kit is non-destructive and allows you to set your trigger to less than a pound. You may have trouble setting it up initially as you can easily set it so low that the bolt will no longer #### reliably. If you encounter this issue, gradually bring up the pull until the bolt cocks every time and passes the bump test (the accublade should prevent bump fires anyway). Set to a safe level and enjoy; it was the best upgrade I gave my Mark II before I sold it.
