savage Mk II FVT , FV, LV

I have the FV and I love it. Great little rifle. I have about 250 rounds through it, so far no problems.
Well worth the money.

FVT come with a target sight which is perfect for three position target shooting. The LV has been replaced with BV and I thing they are pretty much the same with heavy barrel. If you want to use a scope, than better take the FV or BV model, as mentioned they are good gun for the money.

I first owned a Mark II LV and sold it, but it shot really well. So well in fact that I wanted another. I ordered a MarkII FV with the synthetic stock. I tried the trigger shim trick to reduce the weight of pull. It now breaks at a crisp 3 lbs. I replaced the return spring and it feels much better. I shimmed the side to side play in the trigger as well. I glued a shim on the front of the sear mechanism to eliminate the inch of overtravel. The trigger I have now cost nothing and is 100% better than the way it was. The accuracy I was told will improve with bedding. The problem is have a look at the inside of the FV stock. I built up a base using my sons play-dough and some Hot Glue. 3/4 the way up. Around the action sleeves that the action screws go into. I also put a base up to the end of the heavy part of the barrel, where it steps down. Then I took epoxy and bedded the action to my glue base.(after it set of course) I also put washers on the bottom of the stock so I have a metal to metal contact point and I don't flex the stock when torquing down the action screws.

Final result is satisfactory. For the money I invested, I am pleased with the accuracy. I get honest 3/4 inch groups with just abouit all brands I tried and better yet with match ammo. I don't have any fliers anymore either. I am waiting...impatiently I might add.... for the sharp shooter supplies junior varmint stock. www.savageshooters.net/sharpshooters/ I am not fond of the plastic stock the Mark II comes in. Very thin wrist and I had to invest in High rings even for a 40mm objective scope. Excellenty bag for the buck. I would reccommend spending the extra few bucks on the BV if you can afford it.
