Savage Mk II models weight difference ?

I am looking to buy a Savage MkII . I have researched the BTV and the BTVS models
on the Savage site . Both model look the same , but one is blued and the other stainless.
The Savage site lists the BTV at 6.5 lbs. and the BTVS at 7.5 lbs. . Does stainless weigh
that much more , or are there other differences ?
 
stainless weighs 2.4% more then mild steel. not much of a diferance. diferances in wood dencity combined could make that pound differnace.
 
I'm thinking that is an error on the part of Savage. I see the BV weighs in at 6.5 lbs. also. I wonder if the thumbhole stock is heavier than the one shown on the BV.
 
The Savage site also indicates a 1/4" difference in overall length. That might account for a bit of the weight difference as well. Though not much. Nice rifles. I love my BVSS.
