I need some new rings for my Savage Mark II.

I bought a cheap AIM 4x scope that came with rings, but its too damn high. You get more of a chin weld than a cheek weld, and that is with a home-made cheek riser (Blue foam sleeping pad under one of those stretchy cartridge holders that go on the buttstock)

So any suggestions on what might work better? I would prefer to keep the iron sights in place, but I can remove the rear sight if needed. What are YOU using on your MkII? The scope is a 40mm. I plan to replace the scope eventually, but that wont be until I can afford something better for my Axis, at which point this gets what the Axis wears now (3-9x40 cheapo bushnell. banner maybe?)

I used weaver bases and medium sun rings if I remember right (i've since sold it)....the objective was low to the barrel with 3-4mm of clearance, the rear sight did sit up in front of the objective, but it didn't impact the view looking through the scope, so I didn't bother to knock it out

If it's a black, plastic Mark II stock...chances are it should get 1/2 the blame. Terrible geometry. (ask me how I know) Once you get your cheek high enough, 1/2 the problems disappear. I put an Accuriser on mine (black rubber, matched the stock perfectly) and that got rid of most of my troubles. :)

But...without a photo, it's hard to tell how high your rings are, but it doesn't sound like finding the right height should be too big an issue. I like BKL and Warne rings myself. (BKL from D&L Airgun/Warne from Amazon)

I run EGW's on my MK2

I have had a lot of good luck with EGW rails, got one on my A-bolt, B mag and had one on my savage, would definitely recommend, my only complaint is that they don't reach forward enough on the savage for the eye relief I'd like, need to put a spacer between the stock and the butt pad.
