Hi,

I was wondering if anybody owns this model and can comment. Are they still made in Canada?

I have one, it was made in canada, purchased a little over a year ago. the action is nice, the trigger is great, its very accurate, light and easy to carry. Not the prettiest little rifle though, but makes a great gopher gun.

Okay, does anybody know where I can get one with the Accutrigger for a good price brand new?

I am happy with mine ($189 at WSS).

I would like a little more accuracy though; but am still playing with different ammo brands. I can do about 1/2" at 50yrds with the right ammo which I shouldnt complain about with a lower end light barrel .22! My best 100yrd group is about 2" (5 shots) which i would like to tighten up. So far most winchester ammo works well it (Dynapoint GT, wildcat and T22).

They are not as nice as a CZ's but at $189 I think they are very good value especially with the accutrigger.

I'm new..Whats WSS?

I just bought a Mark II "G" today! My only "complaint" is that the supposed Walnut stock feels synthetic (which I prefer anyways).

Just remember that the "G" doesnt come with scope mount bases, you need to buy them separately.

Bought my MarkII GL (lefty) at Wholesale Sports last month. Paid $189 - Cabela's is $239.

I also thought the stock was synthetic, but it is wood - brightens up nicely with organic oil. Bolt action slides nicely, and I like the accutrigger feature - almost like a second trigger safety (although I always use the regular safety). This rifle was made in Ontario, but I won't hold that against Savage:).

Remington Subsonic .22LR 1080fps load perfectly (from the magazine). Winchester "Western" .22LR 1220fps hollow point (bulk in a box of 500) does not always feed properly (from the magazine). The tip sometimes catches on an edge of the chamber.

I have shot .22 CB longs (I contacted Savage and they said although the rifle is marked .22LR only, .22 caliber is fine to shoot). The longs do not always come up out of the magazine and you could end up thinking there is one in the chamber and when you pull the trigger - click (not so good for the firing pin, or so I've been told). After that happened once, I now check to make sure it loads in properly - a bit of a hassle but my dog doesn't flip out when I shoot 720 fps CB's.

Overall I am quite pleased with this rifle.
