I have a Savage MK11 bolt action rifle in .22 long rifle calibre. I am finding a lot of wear/mushrooming on the bottom surface of the bolt where the sear engages it. This wear is showing after only a few hundred rounds fired. I am concerned that this is going to continue until failure. I have cleaned off the mushrooming and polished the bolt/sear engagement area but it doesn't take a lot of shooting before the mushrooming starts again. I have tried several different lubricants but problem still reappears after 50 or so rounds. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem.https://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/1796583-Savage-50-rimfire-rebates-(until-Dec-31-2018)

I have noticed, done and confirmed this exact same thing on my MKII as well.
It's the only Achilles heel of this incredible and affordable 22 bolt
The bolt steel is softer than plastic it appears.
That being said I'm many thousands of rounds through mine and it just keeps going

Every Mark II bolt I've seen wears like this - Never seen one fail due to this but not saying that it hasn't happened to some one.

Both mine are fitted with up-graded triggers - Apachee kit in one set at 16 ozs. & modified Rifle Basix Sav Rat in the other set at 20 ozs. These rifles have fired many thousands of rounds without incident.

Bear in mind that some owners operate their bolts with more enthusiasm than others which may hasten the wear!
