savage mk2 barrel chop?

after many hours of thinking about it, I have decided to leave it alone... at the most, ill chop it down to 18.5" and re crown it but ill forget about doing the aluminum cover on it... this was my very first rifle I bought, so if I messed it up I would be very mad... ill pick up another cheap rifle to mess around with and this one ill go all out on... the ultimate rat killing rifle, shame suppressors are not legal in Canada

Can you find a factory 13" barrel? I bought a Mk2 with a 13" barrel this winter, and it's great for a truck/field gun.

Why not just buy a stevens trapper and do the trigger shim job? gets you a 13" barrel and a great feeling trigger. I will stress the trigger job on these being a must!
