Hey all, was looking to pick up a bipod for my savage mk2 g and was wondering if anyone has any recomendations? i've seen a harris bipod but seems pretty costly. My budget is around 100...any sugestions would be greatly appreciated.
Keep in mind that you don't need to acquire an actual Harris bipod but consider a 'Harris-like' model, per se. A 22 bolt action's recoil is very easily sustainable with a other models available. I realize there are quite a few firearm gear and accessory whores out there that attest only to certain brands and these are the same shooters that you see at the range with Gucci guns but can't shoot worth of shiznit. But if your budget is around 100 bucks then you can easily pick up a Harris for that price out there.
Bought my Harris (9-13" non-swiveling) for $75 at Le Barons in Mississauga during their no tax event. I own a Harris clone, labeled "Caldwell" that bought at Bass Pro before I knew any better. Cost me $57+ tax if memory serves. Not a bad bipod, but doesn't hold a candle to the Harris ones. I now own 2 Harris bipods. They're worth a few extra dollars.
Thanks guys, i just need something that will last and not break out of the box. I guess i will dig around and find a good price on one, its slim picking's in winnipeg at the 'big box' stores for bipods..but anyway thanks again.
Bought a Caldwell "Harris look alike", with leg notches, and it swivel for 39 $, love it as much as my Harris. Got it at Dante Sports in Montreal. I have this on my Savage Mark II BTV

Anyone have any comparisions between the harris and the caldwell bipods? Durability, quality? I am kind of leaning towards the caldwell..maybe. I still need to find a place to purchase said bipod..i think i seen on on canada ammo. So i think with a sturdy bipod i will be able to de-prime spent shotshells at 20 or so yards.
These guys are all right, just want to add one thing. My bipods now are non-pivots, this doesnt always work out for me since 9/10 benches I go to at the range are not level. Also the ground is rarely level.
