Can't decide on thumbhole or non thumbhole. Don't care for the stainless, the price diff is only about 40 bux.

I would like to hear peoples opinions for each.
I have noticed the foregrip is wider on the thumbhole (btv) and I kind of like it.

The gun will mostly be used for target at the range, plinking at the farm, and possibly the occasional groundhog.

What do we all think?

Btv

I have the Savage BTV thumb-hole. When I first saw them I thought it would feel strange. I was sold after going to the store to check them out. I think I may get the thumb-hole stock on the next couple of purchases also. It feels great !!!!!:D:D

I have the BTVS (stainless thumbhole). My only gripe, and its not THAT big of a deal, is that the forward part of the thumbhole grip is narrow, even more so than a traditional handgun. A fellow club member suggested adding some hockey tape to build up the grip area, but I don't really fancy the look. Again, not a biggie, but I wish that area had a little more meat.

I have both or them. If you plan on shooting mostly from a bench or stationary position I'd suggest the BTV. Providing, that is, you find the grip comfortable. As noted above, the pistol grip part of the stock is fairly narrow.

If you're going to carry it around or do much offhand shooting I'd recommend the BV. It is quite a bit lighter than the BTV, though both are fairly heavy for .22s.

The action is the same, so it really comes down to the weight, appearance and fit. Only you can decide about those things.

+2:D

I wanted an all-round gun, so I leaned toward the BV. Both are great, but you have to hold them and have a particular use in mind when choosing.

They are great value for the money!!:)

I went with this one (BV? cannot remember). I chopped up a Ruger 10/22 stock my girlfriend was not using and made a bad ass little cheek piece to help with the cheek weld since I put a 50mm scope on it. I love this thing and it is accurate as all get out!
