Any suggestions for good rings to use on the savage Mk2 BV?
I'm mostly wondering what height rings to get, the bases look pretty low. I'll be using a vari-X III 1.5-5 on it so good cheek support, thinking medium height? Low is definately out, already tried a low ring vx-1 4-12x 40mm off my M70 and the scope hit the barrel; I suspect the bolt would hit also.
Any experiences/suggestions appreciated. BTW here's a picture:

Thanks superdan. I ordered the cheaper Weaver rings, medium height. Dont care for the finish on them, and I noticed they mode the scope horizontally as I tightened it down. here's some pictures for anyone else who might be interested, some shadows muddy the clearance details. Medium seems to be the perfect height for this scope despite the small objective (leupold variX 3 1.5-5x). It's worth more than the gun, but I have it sitting unused so it'll save buying a scope. Anyway, the rear of the bolt clears the scope by about 1'4" and the scope lines up naturally when shouldering the rifle quickly, rabbits and partridge beware this fall...

BTW, I bought a 10 shot mag for it and it'll see range/plinking use, but the 5 shot is a necessity for hunting because it's right at the balance point for one hand carry, so everyone please stop complaining about it coming with the 5 shot :nest:

Those Savage bases are low. My scope has a 36mm objective lens and with Burris Sig highs it only clears the metal by a few millimeters. Anybody buying a scope for one of these rifles should definitely consider the lens size/ring height issue first.
