Savage mk2 scope mounting

Got the Weaver rails for mounting a scope on Savage Mark II, however screwing them on, one ends up contorted to one side as the screw is hard to go in a drilled & tapped hole...not properly tapped?
Anyone in Ontario GTA that has equipment to rectify this? Will pay
