Hi all,

I am thinking about buying this rifle, .22 cal. I will be using it for target shooting and small game hunting (probably 50/50). I would appreciate any opinions ppl may have on this.

Based on what I have read, I think this rifle can shoot around 1 MOA with no modifications, given the right ammo, please correct me if I am wrong.

A couple things to focus any advice, I am not worried about a heavy barrel in the field, this model only weighs 1/2 lb more than other mk II models. Also, accuracy is key for me, this model is bolt action, which may have pros and cons when hunting, but hopefully after some practice, my first shot won't miss (I am leaning away from any semi-auto model).

Also, a CZ is out of my price range, but feel free to suggest any others I might like.

If you have fired this rifle, I would definitely appreciate your opinions.

Thanks in advance,

I have Savage MkII with accu-trigger and heavy barrel. Accuracy is great and overall it is a great rifle. It does produce close to 1moa groups if fed the right stuff. I myself prefer descent semiauto (like BV 597 dressed up in yellow) but if you want bolt rifle Savage will do fine. Below are pictures of groupings at 100 yards off sandbags, its not what you will see every time but reasonably close. Piss-poor Simmons 4x scope and Lapua Super Club ammo, practically no wind.

I have a pre accu-trigger MKII that is a great shooter. I did the shim trigger job and it breaks just over two pounds. I also put a Boyds laminate thumbhole stock on and it made a big difference in the overall feel to the rifle.

Anyway, I don't think you will regret it.
