Picked up another mkII on saturday, this time a fv-sr. I called all the local dealers to try and ge tone and Wanstalls had the last one in the lower mainland. I got a chance to take it out for the first time this monring and it was great. I'm going to have to say this is probably the most fun gun that i own. Took about 10 shots to get dialed in and was bang on all day. Put about 600 rounds through it and it was flawless. I was only on the small range today but at 25 yards it was putting them all through the same hole. 9mm casings were a piece of cake to pick off all day long. Overall i'm extremely pleased with it and actually might go buy another now.

I've got a savage semi auto but with wood stock (same barrel). I'd be curious to see how yours prints at 50yrds. Obviously, it will be better than my semi auto version but curious as to how much better.
 
The Savage FV-SR is a really good deal on a .22 bolt... they are also easily modified to your taste... here is one of mine;

Hey ea187~like the rifle! Been tempted to grab one of those...but is it possible to own TOO many bolt-action .22s? :) Looking at your photo, it appears as though you have that rail on backwards. Did you do that to get the scope further back? Might increase the likelihood of shell casings not clearing.

Ya I had to turn it around to get the scope far enough back. It does hamper the ejection process sometimes. I'm gonna hit it with the milling machine when I get a chance and open that port up.
 
That gun is awesome. I like the combination of target accuracy & tactical looks.

I've been thinking of getting a CZ etc., but I keep hearing that the Savage Mk II's will shoot right with 'em, for a much lower price, and the Savage tactical just looks...right.

I picked up a Mark II TRR-SR but didn't care for the long barrel. So I bought a Mark II FV-SR and installed a Boyds Tacticool stock with DIP stock kit. I replaced the factory rail for an EGW 20moa rail and threaded on a Dlask Levang Compensator.

One thing that surprised me was the Mark II TRR-SR was made in the US but the FV-SR was made in Canada. I had forgotten that some of Savage's rimfire production was moved to the US.

I have the TRR SR semi auto and I absoutly love it, the only 2 complaints I have about it are that it does not come with accu trigger and no after market hi cap mags......other than that it was a great trade for one of my sks's.
 
Thats a great .22 for the price, I doubt one could do much better. what kind of ammo did you use? I'd like to see what it could do with some top quality match ammo at 50 or 100 yds
 
Lookin good TFunfer, mine looks identical except its still in the cheezy tupperware kids stock with a Tac Pro cheek riser. Mine seems to like Blazer, but Ive got a couple boxes of other stuff to try too. How well does the tacticool stock fit?
 
Out of curiosity, over at RFC, people are complaining about Savage's rimfire QC. Since most are made in Lakefield, are the Canadian Savage employees to blame for the problems?
