Savage MkII TR 22LR Question/help...

I recently purchased a Savage MkII TR 22LR and really like it, cycles perfectly and is very accurate. However cleaning it is another thing. Oddly it has the tightest chamber and barrel of any of my .22's. The cleaning rod barely makes it down the barrel and I have to use the smallest of patches to clean it. Once the patch has dropped out the muzzle and I pull back the jag it feels like it's dragging against the rifling all the way back to the chamber. None of my other .22's react this way the cleaning tools the way this one does.

Is anybody else experience this phenomenon with their MkII TR?
 
I have the BTVS Savage and yes it's that way for me. I bought a snake and haven't looked back.
For a deep clean I use the brush and patches but only say evey 1000 rounds or when accuracy really drops off.

The cleaning recommendations that came with my Anschutz rifle was that every 1000 rounds I should push a single, tight fitting, dry patch through the bore.

*lawrance, you might want to consider not dragging your jag back through the bore. When the patch comes out, unscrew the jag and just pull the rod back. You can also chuck the jag in a drill and using a file, reduce the diameter slightly to let you use larger patches.
