could someone offer help what starting powder amount of 5744 behind 240 gr bullet Im presently using 45 gr with 300 grain bullet bought the 240 to try these are 452 th ??????

the heavier 300 gr bullets seem to be more consistant with the savages, try starting at 41 grs and work up to 45, 43 seams to be the sweet spot.
slower burning powders like H4198 @ 65 grs is a good load also with the 300 grainers.
I don't know what 240 gr bullets you have, make sure they're .452dia. the closer the fit to bore the better.

what I have are 452 240 gr maybe pistol bullets

I have some of the same, mine are xtp mags. the mag version isn't a consistant as the regular xtp's because the heavier jacketed mags don't obturate as easily. The savage was designed around the 300 grain platform and perform the best with them but the kick a little more. Try the ones you already have but be prepared to switch things up and see what shoots the best with your gun.

From the 10ML owners manual, for a 250 grain Hornady XTP
41gr 5744 for 2170fps
44gr 5744 for 2267fps
No info for a 240 grain bullet, but the data for the 250 gr bullet will work.
also from the manual
"to determine the best load for your Savage Model 10ML-ll, try loading one or two grains more or less of these powders with saboted bullets of similar weights and diameters"
