Savage ML blows up

You have to weigh your charges on a proper scale. Using that method produces crappy accuracy and potentially big problems.

Thanks,... I think it's safe to say most people on this forum know that... I was making a point of how different people can potentially make things unsafe without realizing it.
Albeit, going over the recommended weight by a couple grains isn't quite like a double-charge/double-slug.

Ultimately, you have to know that whatever volume based measure you are using delivers the correct grains by weight. It's no different than loading any other ammunition and using a powder throw. I start my measuring of SR4759 with a 4.0cc Lee scoop, and it's never over 43 grains weight on the scale. A good load for a 250 grain projectile. I've tried pouring the 43 grains into a Federal 308 case, and it always overflows.

I have seen just as many traditional muzzleloaders blown up or bulged from shooter error short started or double loaded as in powder patch ball and then another powder patch ball
That happened at tjhe alberta provincials some years back - spun the shooter around , but no damage to the gun.
When i built tradional guns i used to proof test them with a double charge of powder and two balls seated together.
I tied the gun to a tire and fired using a trip chord.
never had a Douglas or a Green Mounatin barrel bulge or blow, and never lost a percussion nipple.
