I did Joe. I drilled about half way between the front swivle stud and the recoil lug and I hit aluminum.

Well there you go! Thats good news. I guess good hired help, even at Savage is hard to find. How the hell do you screw up that spec unless they changed the specification part way through production..... I'll have to check mine out...

Yep, Santa came with a .22-250 LRPV. Took it to the range yesterday and breaking in the bbl with factory Winchester 45gr Varmint Paks, got some decent groups. The AL bedding block is crooked in the fiberglass, so the front left corner of the forend is touching on the bbl. After the bbl started to heat you could really see the the grps opening up. Nobby Uno has got the gun to bed it properly.

Still all in all the potential is really there once properly bedded and with handloads. I'll try some 50 & 55 grners as well which should help with the 12 twist.

That should be warranty shoot44, but if you can get a good smith I wouldn't even bother. Many guys have stated the Win 45gr Varmit ammo does not shoot well in 22-250. It often does however, shoot extremely well in .223.

Got the rifle bedded properly, prepped the Winchester brass, used Rem primers, Varget powder, Berger 55gr BT Match, Sierra 52gr BT Matchkings, Sierra 53gr FB Matchkings. Went out today in blustery overcast weather with wind flags out and tested out some loads. All grps 3 shots.
