Howdy, anyone own or shoot this rifle in .223? Opinions, dislikes anything......Just got rid of my 22-250 and looking for a budget rifle for punching paper at distance.

Chris.

I have used a few of these SA Accutrigger Savage factory rifles and there is alot that is positive.

The Accutrigger is a great factory trigger that can be home tuned to 2.5lbs with a very crisp let off and no overtravel (all adjustable).

The center feed mag is really nice and one of the few in 223 that allows 75gr Amax and Bergers to be seated at a nice OAL.

I have not played with the Accustock but expect it to improve the reg. injection molded stock alot. It will weigh more but be significantly more rigid. I like the wedge that should hold the recoil lug better against the chassis. Might be one of the few factory stocks that doesn't need bedding???????

Savage usually has decent barrels. Most have shot for me in the 3/8 to 3/4 MOA range. The occasional one will be more like 1 min but that is still very good for a factory pipe.

I am not sure I would pay another $300+ for that accustock though. I would rather put that money towards a better barrel and mod the stock myself to suit.

And that is exactly what I have just done... Will make a thread about it in the coming weeks.
