If

I can get a Savage Model 10 in .223 with Accu-Trigger and synthetic stock, mounted and sighted (I think) Simmons 3-9x40mm, and with only 20 rounds down the pipe BUT a possibly rusted bore*

FOR under $250

THEN

Am I making out like a bandit?

Will a Stevens take-off barrel fit that rifle?

* It's never been cleaned in 3 or 4 years since he bought it, has some junk in it, but it could be powder, I didn't have a rod and patch or a bore light to check. The outside of the barrel isn't rusted at all and he supposedly stored it in a gun cabinet.

I think I'll get it this week. It's a real nice little gun. If I decide it's not for me or my wife gets 'up in arms,' I'll just sell it on here. :) I need to tell her it's not my fault that everyone around me is selling their guns off cheap this week!

What's the deal with rusted bores?? This is the 3rd such thread I have read this evening. So what??!! Buy it, clean it, shoot it or give out the name so someone else can for crying out loud!! IT'S ONLY RUST!! Clean it!

For what its worth, a Savage action is very easy to swap barrels on.
In fact theres a youtube video that shows you how to do it yourself in about 20 minutes.
