Savage Model 11 .204 mounting Vortex....

I am pretty green to rifle shooting. I have a Savage model 11 .204 that I am mounting a Vortex Crossfire II 4-12x44 on. It was suggested to me that I get a picatinny rail and Burris six screw or BlackHawk six screw rings for it. Can anyone offer some opinions on this before I pick them up this weekend please.

For a 204 you shouldn't need anything fancy for rings and bases. Nothing wrong with a picatinny rail but 6 screw rings seem like overkill unless you like the way they look. You could save a few bucks by going with Weaver style bases and get some Burris zee rings or something like that. Cheap and effective.
