Greetings,

So I picked up a Savage Model 11 in .223 over the summer, and keeping with regular Savage accuracy, she's doing her job. It has the Accutrigger, which I dont like....I know I can update with a Rifle Basix trigger, but being that the gun did not come with anything, and that I am new to the accutrigger, I have a couple questions...

Is the trigger on this one adjustable?

What's a good source for an RB trigger in Canada? Price?

I know you can do shim jobs etc, but I really dont want to get into that....

Any of you Savage fans out there help a fella out!:sniper:

Cheers,
Ken

It should adjust down to 2.5 lbs or so. To go below that you probably have to cut some off the trigger spring. I do not have a regular centerfire AccuTrigger, but I have adjusted the rimfire version (which is different) down to 10-12 oz.. It is very crisp and reliable. I'm guessing you could do similar with the centerfire version, but it is a guess as I have never done it. Here is how I did the rimfire.

Rimfire AccuTrigger Tuning

My Savage centerfire has the Target AccuTrigger. I initially had issues with it, but after a bit of a tuneup it now pulls very reliably and crisp at 7 oz..

Try to get used to it when set low. The issue with it is that it will let go on you and the accu release lever will catch the misfire. This is a result of using a two lever trigger design with a negative sear angle and a low weight. If you don`t like it after you give it an honest try, then get the Sav2 trigger assembly. The Sav1 is just the trigger piece and not worth nearly the cost IMO.

One more thing.... sources for the aftermarket triggers in Canada?

Hoping the adjustment works out... going to attempt it Sunday.

Thanks Rob... good advice! 3 Macs... if it's CB, I was there to visit the parents over Xmas, I'm from the Bay... If it's Amherst way, thanks for the rabbits! lol

The SSS trigger works, the Rifle Basics Sav2 would be the competition trigger. The issue with the Rifle Basics Sav2 trigger is that when set low the safety is dangerous. Flicking the safety on and off rattles the intermediate lever which releases the sear and you have an accidental discharge. I run a Sav2 on my Savage competition rifle and NEVER use the safety. There is no issue with the SSS trigger other than it cannot go under 12oz.
