Savage Model 12 VLP .233 & Sightron SIII 6-24x50 LR

As stated the accu-trigger can be finicky expecially the target model .If you close the bolt hard it will go into what you referred to as safe mode.Work the bolt gently and it should not do this. If it becomes a major problem ,as mine did, turn the pull weight up.
I set mine at 1lb. and it rarely is an issue now.

+1 on this, have the same issue with my Target Savage.

If you get in the habit of pulling straight back on the trigger it also helps prevent the red tab from jumping into "safety mode".

He is a good little video on trigger manipulation :

I know all about that trigger safety, With a 65lb coyote 25 yards away on a trot the trigger locked! $%^& sakes. lesson learned. The coyote was taken at the end of the block by another gentlemen in our group, thats how i know it weighed 65 lbs.
