HI,

i bought a Savage model 22 410 combination only to get the US ww2 carrying case it came with it, but i wonder how much i could sell it for? Rifle is in good condition (no crack on wood, blueing ok, bore ok)

Thanks

Actually theres no such thing as the Savage 22-410, theres the Savage 24 that comes in 22 over 410 or the Stevens model 22-410 but all in all as Doug would say it's just picking flycrap out of pepper.

Never seen a WW2 carry case for one, have pics or is it the model 24C carry case (light brown with ties)?

Hazard a guess at around $75-$85 in Canada for the case. You don't find alot of those up here. Only problem is that I think they only fit the 24C Camper model and it has a shorter barrel than the regular 24's.

I bought a couple Savage 24s this past year for $600 each but they usually seem to run closer to $800 or a lot more if the camper model or in a center fire rifle calibre. Any USAF markings on the gun?

Just coincidence that the gun came with the issue case?

These little combination guns have really appreciated in value. In sound condition, the values mentioned above reflect the prices they bring.
A lot of folks have realized that these are really useful for small game hunting. A .22/20ga was one of my favorites for hares and ptarmigans.

Yes i think it is a concidence. The previous owner had 2 .22 rifles and the case was originally with the other .22 he kept. Thanks a lot for all of your help! I may keep if for small game hunts finally. I will look for army marking, but i doubt there is any

Neat little guns for hunting grouse or for just kicking around the bush. If it was a military survival rifle I have seen USAF stamped on bottom in front of triggerguard. Likely it isn't though after reading your post.

Didn't the military ones have synthetic stocks ?

Most of the Stevens 22-410's came with the tenite stocks. Hard to tell from the pics but it looks like the forearm might still be the tenite and the butt stock has been changed to wood.

Someone also tried to coldblue the gun.
