Well I have been looking for quite a while and finally ended up finding a Savage 24 in 22/20ga at a local gun show yesterday. It just has the regular field grade stocks and is a little shorter with the 20" barrels but bores are perfect and is in very good shape (wife's camera broke so I can't post a pic right now). I had it out yesterday shooting the 22 and at 50yds she will put 5 shots the size of a golf ball which I think is good enough since I want a small game gun and don't expect it to be a tack driver. So far I am very happy with it. Ended up paying a little more than I wanted to ($550) but as soon as I seen it I just couldn't pass it up Any other gun nutz have this model, and if so what are your opinions on them?
 
I shot one years ago (22 over 410) and it was one of the nicest little grouse guns I've ever used. If I missed with the 22 I could just take them down with the 410. The 20 gauga barrel sounds like an even better option than the 410.

How was the gun show up there? At the agricultural centre? I've been meaning to go but I haven't had the chance. They usually have a gem or two in the bunch. Looks like you found one.
 
It was at the orangeville fair ground a couple miles north of town. This was the first time I was ever there but it was mostly just private citizens (I believe). There must have been 300 tables set up with mostly older guns,knives,scopes and ammo. I had actually been looking for a 22/410 but when I came across the 20 guage I thought that would be even better. I seen lots of others I would have liked to get my hands on but figured the wife might already have a fit over the savage so better just stop at that.
 
Good buy! I bought a brand spankin' new 24H-DL in about 1966 or 67, .22/20ga. I have used it for all these years for shooting bush partridge, Hungarian partridge and prairie chicken. I've used it for gopher shooting as well. I managed to find a nice mate for it, a 24 in .22WRM/20 ga. It is also a DL but I forget the series.

Nice little guns, heavy but very sturdy and forgiving. As you say, miss 'em with the .22, so blast with the shotgun! :p
