Recently purchased one in 222 Rem and am not terribly impressed.
I understand it is not a high end gun but I would expect the action NOT to pivot in the stock.
Tried several things to improve but 3-5inch groups are unacceptable in any chambering, much less in a 222.
Trigger seems decent enough and breaks nice.
I have a model 12 in 22-250 and is likely the most accurate rifle I own. Maybe I have one that was built on a Monday.
Wondering if anyone has had similar issues???
maybe next course of action is to bed the action ??? I do believe it to be the problem.
DAMN!!!

if it's that loose that it pivots when you work the bolt my first course of action would be to call the savage warranty people and let them replace it, or maybe talk them into paying for bedding before i bedded it and (potentially) voided the warranty.

I doesn't pivot when cycling bolt, just sitting in the stock loose it will ,it almost pivots on a high spot. Then you can see flexing when tightening rear screw. I will call them and see what the best way to resolve this is.

Can you seen an obvious high spot in the stock that maybe shouldn't be there? Something a bit of sandpaper might take care of? (Or dremel if its a big nasty piece, but its very easy to remove too much with one of them...)

Its almost as if rear pillar is too short and when tightened it stresses the whole thing badly. Tempted to put a couple of thin washers between rear pillar and stock but Savage says send it back. Just a pain in the ass.
Trying to think of something that could cause such crap accuracy but I put decent rings of it, even lapped them before I mounted the VXII 3-9x40. Shooting it off good bags with a good front rest everything is same as I've always done it.
Just piss poor and I'm not at all happy

Savage makes great guns but I wasn't impressed with the Model 25 after having had the opportunity to handle one in a gun shop.

Send the Gun to John Grech. They are warranty for Savage and his shop is top notch.

It's a Pain to be without the rifle but that is what you have to do.

Going to assume you ha e tried different ammo?

A young friend of mine has a Savage in 243 and it shoots 3.5 inch groups with 58 vmax factory. I loaded some 75hp and they shoot .75 groups.

As others have suggested -- call Savage and have it sent for repair
I have the model 25 in 223 with the thumbhole stock. I have no complaints. The rifle shoots sub MOA with hornady 60 grain V-max loaded on 23.5 grains of win748

These are not high end rifles by any means but performance wise should be much better than what you're achieving

Shoot straight - chrisco

I had the same rifle in .204.The laminate thumbhole stock was really nice. The first few rounds were ftf with light primer strkes so I took the bolt apart and cleaned it good.Problem solved.Sub moa rifle like every Savage I have owned.
