That will be an expensive lesson at 300 bucks. Seriously, I have nothing against savage or cheap guns at all. But this is a bad gun poorly designed. They didn't start off cheap when they came back on the market - dealers have problems offloading these guns.

....new 42 is 22 Mag/.410.....
The .22 mag (scoped) literally shoots 1" @ 100 meters with CCI Maxi mags, and it is a great, handy combo.
I unreservedly recommend them. Seriously.

The new one's easily break down to two pieces, correct....... How do you like that?

What about the 22 mag ..... each bullet works out to be about $0.40 each instead of $0.07 for 22 long. Its it worth the premium?

I own a 42, and have to agree that ithe is a cheaply made gun. But then again I paid 300 new for it, so what can you expect.

I'd try one for $300, but they're on sale for $450 at some places
