Savage Model 42 scope?

Can anyone recommend a good cheap scope or red dot for a Savage 42? The stock sights are crap. I was thinking about a TRS25. I plan on using it for rabbits and grouse. 30 metres or less. Thanks!
 
I put a Bushnell red dot on. My wife loves it, and it doesn't add too much bulk, but it has zero magnification. I was looking for something to use inside of 40 yards it works nicely for that.

No magnification is an issue for me seeing detail beyond 30 yards or so, but on the plus side it means I can shoot with both eyes open. I put on a TRS25 and it works great. Now I need to go find some rabbits...
 
I purchased a skinner ghost ring sight from Montana. With that simple switch and a little finger nail polish on the front, I feel the 42 has really improved and became a good ditch chicken gun.
