Savage Model 77f

Hey guys, I am wondering what the choke is on my old savage stevens model 77f??

It is 2-3/4 & 3'' capable, 12 ga, pump. Fixed choke

Logic would denote that the 77 "F" would mean model 77 "full choke" but i'm not entirely sure.

If you have a set of dial calipers meassure the inside of the bore at the muzzle .full choke should measure .700 to about .710.

The "F" in 77F does not denote choke. The choke markings are usually stamped on the barrel near the chamber.

Try dropping a dime through the muzzle. I was told that if a dime just barely clears the muzzle, it's IC, if it won't make it, it's likely full.

Dime won't go its a full choke. this is true.

It's more of a rule of thumb. Choke is a constriction from bore diameter and measured in 0.001", a dime will point you in the right direction but is not precise.
