They didn't do it to the BCL102 which appearance wise is almost identical.

That's my guess too, but if the receivers are completely different I don't know how that might change things.

If the manufacturer calls it an AR-10 then it's not even up for discussion. AR or Variant = Restricted and no amount of wishful thinking is going to change that.

It's an ar10. It will be restricted. The BCL102 is not an ar10 or variant. It's design, the ar102 design, predates the ar10 and the ar15, so it is not possible to be an ar10, 15 or variant. It's all semantics, but nonetheless, those are our laws.

The reviews of the savage msr10 are okay. The Smith and Wesson m&p10 gets way better reviews.

Interesting. I was under the impression there needed to be physical similarities between the receivers.
