Savage or Marlin 17HMR?

So I think it's time to add a 17HMR to my collection and I like both the Savage 93R17 BVSS and the Marlin XT-17VSFL. They're both heavy stainless barrel bolt actions with laminate stocks, adjustable triggers & about the same price. $360 to $400. The Marlin has a fluted barrel.

Any comments about which is a better gun and why?
 
I have the exact Savage rifle you are looking at, great firearm. A buddy has the cz 17 and its quite good as well. Never fired a marlin in this calibre so I cannot speak on that rifle.

They are both good guns... I have a few Savage's in HMR and HM2 and they are well made and accurate, but I also shot a friends Marlin HMR and was impressed with it... you really can't go wrong with either.
 
I had a Marlin 917V and it was junk. I have never been so frustrated with a rifle in my life. Savage are made in Canada. They are a decent rifle for the buck and you keep Canadians employed. My 2 cents. CZ is a nice rifle but a bit more bucks to shell out.
 
I've had both, sold the Marlin to get the Savage. The Savage had much nicer polishing and blue, and the Accutrigger was hugely superior to the Marlin trigger. Accuracy was excellent out of both, easily sub-MOA at 100 yards, but the nicer trigger made the Savage easier and more pleasant to shoot.

And, yeah, the CZ beats both of them...for a price.
