What is the opinion on this I'm looking at getting one of these in a .223 Ive been looking at the rem 700 or the XR 100 and the savage LE 10FP Choate, does any one have experience with these rifles? I'm leaning towards the savage due to the price is considerably cheaper. I will be shooting from 100yrd to 400 and up wards.

What are everyones thoughts on this

I'm leaning towards the Savage. Seems like most people say you can't beat it's accuracy out of the box for the price.

I have a Rem 700 PSS in 223/556
Also have a Savage 12 FV in 308/762

Both will shoot under a inch with cheap surplus...the Savage is a good gun but you can't compare the stocks on the two...Hence the cheaper price on the savage....Buy a savage and buy a bell & carlson stock and your good to go....and still cheaper than a Rem.

what model bell & carlson stock did you go with and was there any major fitting that needed to be done. Sorry if these are silly questions as im new to this end of the game but theres only one way to learn:)

Am new as well and chose the Savage 12BVSS 223 with Bushnell 4200 elite. Easily sub 1"@100. Put 5 into .430" today (Factory ammo). Still working on consistency though, still put out stray wingers that wreck the grouping.

Factory ammo may be the problem with wingers. Try some handloads.

They're both good choices, and I don;t think you'll regret either one. However, my money would go to the Savage. You get a bit more for a bit less. More value for your money. The tradeoff it that there are less aftermarket mods available, of you're into that sort of thing.

Also, a lot of 'smiths are a lot more skilled at accurizing 700's than Savages. But most savages that I've ever shot don't really need much accurizing.

Ive decide to go with the Savage 12fvss in 223 And replace the stock when I get the coin. I think it makes more sense to get the 12fvss instead of the 10fp when im going to replace the stock anyways. Any thoughts on this, Thanks for the input

I just bought a Rem 700 Police in 223.

I tried but could not go with the Savage it was far to ugly for me.......

I have that one on mine ($240.00) but I am considering a higher power Leupold.
Overall good choice for the Bushnell but if you have the $$ go better.
