Thought I would start a thread about this intriguing new rifle.

Anybody seen one?

I was wondering a couple of things.

What is the overall weight??

Does it use the same action as the F/TR??

I know it is a 13 twist and the F/TR is a 12 twist, but other than that are the barrells the same?

Weight isn't listed on the Savage website, but obviously it would make weight for competiton with sights, handstop, etc.
I expect that it uses the right/right single shot target action.
Barrel is probably a bit slimmer than the F/TR; they refer to using a "Palma" taper. Muzzle will be sized to accept a standard banded front sight base.
1:13 twist is just about optimum for the 154/155gr bullets used in Palma.
No doubt the price is higher because of the fully adjustable stock.

Well I like he stock and action, I am willing to spend 1700 on this rifle!

I do not care about the barrel that much but if it shoots as good as my 6.5 and 6mm BR you will not be sorry.

A few folks got some dudds but m 2 are excellent.

Although the legal trigger weight may change soon it currently won't lift the weight with a 2.5 lb trigger.

That is a really good point. I think the trigger needs to be able to lift a 3.3lb (1.5kg) weight. The target accutrigger that they are putting on won't do this....

Could they have overlooked something so simple?

Well, the US has already changed the F class rules for (F) and 'influenced' some countries to adopt too. They call it F(TR) with different rest and bullet allowances.

Given a few years, F class will 'become' a US invention...

If any US High Power shooter wanted to compete in International Palma, they would just need to change the accutrigger spring to the varmint weight and problem solved. Maybe a 5 min swap.
