savage parts

Cool, I will keep that in mind. I read on another thread that the standard size most places carry is .7000 also a buddy told me that PTG is ITAR approved and I think it was also mentioned earlier on in this thread. Also a little bit of an update on this...

I have talked to the person that I planned on ordering the bolt body from in Alberta and currently this is the situation:

I emailed inquiring about the part and next day got a response - he put his personal phone number in the email so I phoned him around noon on a sunday and he said he would send info tuesday (remembrance day) which I said was ok it could wait (bad idea).

Never heard back and a week went by, still no word so I sent him an email inquiring again replying to his reply - still no response...

I phoned him last Thursday and gave him my postal code and city to calculate shipping and am still waiting to hear back, he says he is only in the shop Tuesday to Friday but since it's been two weeks and I really haven't gotten any response also kinda what gets me is I am following his page on facebook and I see his facebook post all the time about builds he has done, so I get the feeling that he doesn't want my money.

I'm kinda lost what would you guys do? Do I turn in to an ass and just start pestering him about it, or do I do what I plan on doing and just walk away.

This is a duplicate of my experience with that individual. I have no desire to ever replicate the experience.

I ended up dealing with PTG directly and although they were very slow to produce and ship my part, it did get here and works great.

Yeah after hearing that it seems that there is a common theme in his customer service department I went ahead and ordered the part from PTG and am waiting to get the confirmation email and then next I will be ordering a bolt handle from glades armory and apparently they do ship internationally so that should be good to go. I'm gonna wait to see if they have anything on Friday to be honest.

Anyone know where to get ejector/extractor parts for savage bolts? PTG website says they don't sell them and brownells says out of stock. Have some extraction/ejection issues with my savage and would like to try replacing these to see if that fixes the problem.

have you tried a 3mm ball bearing under the extractor yet? it will remove some of the sloppy side to side play of the extractor and will likely fix your issue, also try working a bolt a bit faster, they like it rough

FYI, most warranty depots are not going to supply a complete bolt w/o the rifle it's intended for delivered to their facility.

At minimum they will want to check the headspace of the new bolt in that specific rifle, and maybe even do a test fire.

Wrong headspace is serious business.

Another FYI...if you are going to order a bolt from PTG, expect to wait 8 weeks...

"All of our bolt bodies are custom and made to order. Please allow approximately 8 weeks for production.

We will ship the Nat Lambeth Inspired Savage Bolt accessory Kit w/o Handle with your bolt when it is ready.''

I ordered mine as well last week, and now I think it is time to put a little extra on the ol' prepaid and look into getting a glades armory bolt handle as well. And then next step is saving up for a KRG alpha 180 :D

I just put in a order with PTG as well. A lady responded "Hi Matthew, The Savage Bolt Head #SBHLA04 .308 cal .500 lug 1.125 shank - LP - LH, and the Short Action Savage Bolt Body - Spiral Ground Flutes .700 OD LH....the bolts are custom, made to order....please allow approximately 6-8 weeks for production....Thanks, Sheila"

I hope it will only 6 weeks so I can finish up my build :)

I thought I would give this thread a little poke, and let everyone know that a nice brown package from Pacific Tool and Gauge showed up today lol, I guess Merry Christmas to me? Lol, naw that's actually gonna be a glade's armoury bolt handle that will be ordered this weekend. Anyways I will try to get picks up ASAP. Merry Christmas all and have a good one!
