Hey guys, thought I'd pick your brains this morning. Just bought my first centerfire rifle~a Savage Precision 10 Carbine. :) This is the photo from the site, except the camo on my rifle is an even uglier version.

Anyhow, I've never purchased/mounted weaver mounts of any kind, so I'm looking for some direction. Caliber is .223, the rifle will be a varmint hunter...VERY occasional paper puncher. I'm in the Toronto area, so if anyone has any idea where I might find these locally, even better. Part #2 to the question~thread locker. Do you guys suggest using a Loctite-like product when you do this? I would think the semi-permanent would be the most you'd want to use.

Thanks for taking a moment to respond.

I usually use blue locktight on my base mounting screws , keep in mind it only takes a tiny little drop on the tiny screws used to mount a base. I would go with a 1 peice base as they give more options for optics mounting as far as location goes. For bases I would check out near manufacturing or Farrell. If you want to spend a little less then EGW is also a good choice

For a hunting rifle, I would suggest the Burris XTB 2pc steel weaver bases. Very well made, dirt cheap and leaves the mag well open for easy access.

You just never know when you will need to fish out something in your action and some low 1pc mounts can make this job more difficult.

EGW make very nice products. Choose one what is well relieved in the mag area.

anyone pull the action from the stock on the 10PC?? im wondering if the contact area between the action and stock are flush or if it only has a few contact points like the rem 700's?
