Somebody I know is selling a savage P.C in .308 for fairly cheap. I am considering buying it but I'm having a hard time finding much info online about this rifle. From what I gather they introduced it in 2009 and quit making it shortly there after.

Can someone who has experience with this particular rifle offer their opinions. I'm mostly interested in reliably, accuracy and why savage stopped producing this rifle so soon after introducing it.

Thanks!

I have a 223 version. Typical Savage.
Accurate and reliable, no issues.
Fit/finish is ok...also typical savage.
Atypical from Savage was the PC was a lil overpriced.

Good rifle, accurate and tough, reliable. Nothin fancy. A lil heavy but it does have a medium bull barrel which will resist stringing if you shoot a lot in a short time...as a walkabout varminter it's a chunky lil monkey tho!

Thanks for your response. I agree that savage rifles are usually really great guns. I've heard to remove the bolt for cleaning is a tad tricky. Do you find this with yours?

This is mine in .308, great gun, accurate, but with the heavy barrel does make it a brute to carry all day when hunting. I'm sure that you would be happy with the one that you are thinking of buying.

I bought one in 2009 and still smash steel with it at 1000m, no problem. Its the same rifle as any other savage, only difference is a 20" barrel and a accustock.
If you want a shorty barrel for the brush , its fine. But you do give up velocity. Fastest I could accurately push 175gn smk is 2550 fps.

As for the stock, its better then the hollow platsic stock that are on the ais rifles, but still might be desirable to put a aftermarket stock on.
