Savage Precision/Sniper Rifles

Received my break yesterday from GGW. It looks beautiful! Hopefully I'll be hitting the range Monday to test it and feel the difference.

I'm just curious, you guys with the 10BA. Would that gun shoot as well or better than any of the varmint barrels? or how about aftermarket match barrel? I am into building my own long range rifle, but just can't come to terms with a Rem 700. I want to use a Savage, but is the 10BA nothing more than a cool stock? Or would a standard action with a custom barrel and stock shoot better all day long then the BA?

Jerry I see you like savages. What savage would you recommend to start with as a base? Does stainless offer any benefits? I think I would like to have a stainless only because the action would be stainless.

go with a precision target action........you can find them in a repeater configuration if you look hard enough......and you won't have to worry about any trigger upgrades down the road........

They have them on the site. But their single shot.

Sorry hijacking thread. Pm me Jerry.

Yes it's not a precision rifle but it easily shot sub MOA all day long! I miss this rifle but now my Axis in .243 does it even better :p

Here's my Savage Model 12 F/TR .308 1:12 twist.

These were taken last summer using FGMM 175gr and it was doing pretty well. One pic says 178gr but that's just me being an idiot.
I tested out some Berger 175 BT LR but they didn't shoot very well on the initial round. Since then I've scrapped the federal brass(too soft), moved to winchester brass and have been working with the Berger 155.5FB and IMR4064. Hopefully when it warms up I can fine tune it a little more. Also saving up for better glass but the millet is doing the job for now.

And here's a group with the 175gr FGMM. I'm pretty sure I pulled the fifth one. It will consistently print about .6 MOA with the FGMM, but this group was ALMOST my best yet.
